Bye-Bye

by Zoey Stienstra

Nerves don’t lean in for a kiss,

Heart don’t say “I love you” yet.

How am I to say goodbye,

When my clothes smell like you.

More than I bargained for on the internet,

Too sweet for a one-night fling,

Too fleeting for forever.

I want to tell you that I like your eyes.

Snowdrop kisses haunt my dreams,

With things I wish I said,

Combination compliments, confessions,

Meticulous moves I wish I made.

Odds against I ever said hello,

So how do I say goodbye?

Arrivederci, auf wiedersehen, au revoir,

Your sweat still stuck to my skin.
